Absolutely! We offer Open Sew times when you can reserve one of our sewing machines to work on your own projects.
Open Sew is independent sewing time, so instruction is not included. If you need help learning a technique or working through a project, we recommend booking a private lesson.
-
Our Wednesday Friendly Fibers gathering, from 6–8 PM, is a great opportunity to bring a project and spend time crafting alongside others. Friendly Fibers is a casual gathering, not an instructional class, so you should feel comfortable working independently.
If you'd like to come in and work on a project at another time, send us an email to discuss availability.
-
We're always happy to help you find supplies and answer general questions, but dedicated project assistance and instruction are offered through our classes and private lessons.
-
You can browse our upcoming classes and register directly through our website. All classes require advance registration and full payment to secure your spot.
-
We recommend signing up as soon as you find a class you're interested in! Most of our classes are limited to just four students so everyone receives plenty of individual attention. Registration typically closes 24 hours before a class begins, and we're unable to hold spots without registration and payment.
-
We offer classes for a variety of skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced makers looking to learn something new. Each class description includes the recommended skill level and any prerequisites, so you'll know what to expect before registering.
-
It depends on the class! Classes taught by Stitch Your Legacy include the necessary materials in the registration price.
For workshops taught by guest instructors, materials are typically purchased separately. Each class listing will clearly explain what's included and provide a supply list if you need to purchase anything.
-
Not at all! We provide sewing machines and the tools needed for our sewing classes.
If you're taking Sewing Fundamentals and already own a machine, we encourage you to bring it! This gives your instructor an opportunity to walk you through your machine's setup and features, since every machine is a little different. Bringing your own machine is completely optional.
-
Our sewing classes are open to students ages 13 and older. If your child is younger than 13 and wants to take our sewing class, we offer dedicated Kids Lessons they can sign up for. For our crochet classes, we recommend scheduling a private lesson for kids younger than 13 years old.
For students under 18, a parent or guardian must remain in the studio for the entire class.
-
All classes and private lessons require advance registration and full prepayment. Because class sizes are limited and materials and instruction time are reserved in advance, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds.
If you need to cancel, you must do so at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time (or the first session of a multi-day class) to receive a credit toward a future class or private lesson.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance, along with no-shows, are not eligible for credit.
Class credits:Can only be used toward future classes or private lessons
Are subject to availability; a spot in the same class is not guaranteed
Expire six months from the date of issue
Have no cash value and are nontransferable
By registering, you agree to our cancellation policy.
-
Yes! We offer personalized private lessons for sewing and crochet.
Whether you're starting from scratch, want to learn a specific technique, or need help with a project you're working on, private lessons give you the opportunity to work one-on-one with an instructor at your own pace.
-
You can view available private lesson times and book directly through our website.
If you'd like to schedule multiple lessons, each session needs to be booked individually.
-
Not quite yet, but we're working on it!
We're planning to introduce private group classes and events in 2027, with more information coming in December 2026.
-
Not yet! We're currently working on bringing our retail inventory online. For now, all retail shopping is done in person at our Linthicum studio.
-
We offer a 14-day return window for most retail purchases.
Sale/clearance items and precut fabrics are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
-
Yes! Gift cards are available for purchase in our studio and can be used toward retail purchases or classes.
-
We're happy to look into special orders!
Keep in mind that many of our suppliers have minimum order quantities, so we can't guarantee that every item will be available for individual special orders. Feel free to ask, and we'll see what we can do.
-
We do not offer alterations, custom embroidery, machine repairs, or longarm quilting services.
Our focus is on providing quality sewing and fiber arts supplies, along with classes and workshops to help you build your skills and explore new projects.
